ONOC and OSFO meet to discuss further cooperative projects
Saturday, 15th July 2006
ONOC President Kevan Gosper, Anne King, OSFO's Steve, Chet and Edwina met to discuss how both organisations are going to continue to collaborate. OSFO are keen to establish a more defined role in the region and know they can support ONOC with some of their work too.
OSFO is looking to employ an executive director for one day a week and funding for this is being sort from ASOIf and Olympic Solidarity. OSFO is seeking ONOC's support with this process.
After our very successful conference in 2006, plans are well under way for a combined event again in 2007 in American Samoa.
Minutes of the meeting are available should anyone be interested by emailing Edwina:

2nd Annual OSFO Conference, Nadi, Fiji May 11th
Monday, 22nd May 2006
OSFO convened officially for the second time in Nadi, Fiji on May 11th. This event was hailed as a real success as 40 delegates from in excess of 15 sports took part in workshops and discussions.
We were fortunate enough to secure two lots of funding - the first from SPARQ (talent ID equipment and training) and SPORTSWORLD (travel and ticket agents). This meant we could fund our expenses and even entertain our NOC colleagues, who for years have entertained us.
We are looking forward to a more productive year as we look to secure funding for a part time Executive Director. Up until now all work has been done by Chet, Steve and Edwina. They will continue to be involved, but with a dedicated staff member, we will be able to offer the assistance and communciation required by sports to work more effectively in the region - stay tuned for updates on this.
OSFO establishes itself in Pacific Sports Arena.

Images for OceaniaSport Gallery
Wednesday, 2nd March 2005
We have received some images but require a lot more. Thanks to sports that have searched their archives and sent us an image that reflects their sport in the Oceania region. If you haven't sent an image then consider looking for one that reflects grassroots, one that reflects the elite (large crowd watching an Oceania Tournament or the like) and sport in remote areas. We would like to have at least twenty and only cucrrently have five - so please attend to this as a matter of priority. Thank football for this image.

New program for London 2012
08.07.05.- The 117th International Olympic Committee Session in Singapore voted today to include 26 of the 28 current Olympic sports on the Programme of the Games of the XXX Olympiad in 2012. The Session decided that Baseball and Softball will remain on the list of Olympic sports as noted in the Olympic Charter, Rule 46, but will not be on the programme for 2012. The two sports are, however, eligible for inclusion in the programme of the 2016 Games.
Our thoughts go to our friends at Oceania Baseball (Chet) and Oceania Softball (Bob)as they come to terms with what this means for their sports and programmes in the Pacific.
